Georgia and Portugal have agreed on labour migration cooperation
22.04.2019, Lisbon – Portugal is ready for co-operation with Georgia in the area of circular migration. This issue was highlighted during the meeting between the Georgian and Portuguese Foreign Ministers. The Portuguese side reaffirmed its readiness to co-operate with Georgia on temporary legal employment issues. According to the Ministers contact points have already been identified and further steps in this directions will be identified during the upcoming visit of the Georgian delegation to Portugal.
Attaching priority importance to the further development of circular migration co-operation with EU Member States, Zalkaliani said that Portugal will be yet another EU Member State, after France, to sign circular migration agreement with Georgia. It will offer Georgian specialists a good opportunity for employment and professional development.
Georgia continues its active co-operation on labour migration issues with the EU Member States. Agreement on the Stay of Qualified Specialists and Circular Migration between Georgia and France is already in force. Labour migration pilot project is already operational with Poland and negotiations are underway to promote labour migration with Israel and other EU members.
